The construction project’s inherently complex challenges require solutions that can improve the productivity and performance of professionals, projects, and organisations. Previous research suggests the possibility of transforming the construction industry using digital technologies. However, digital technologies that aim to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of construction processes have not been completely adopted in the construction sector due to a digital divide. Therefore, low productivity and performance exist. This presentation examines the future of construction and whether it can be proactively reconstructed using digital technology as an opportunity for change rather than a barrier. To do this, however, the industry must bridge the digital divide. The presentation proposes strategies through which digital technologies such as building information modelling, drone and blockchain technology, advanced 3D scanning and sensor networks can offer a new location-independent, flexible environment in which stakeholders can transform the construction industry.
